Mexican Tariffs On Olive Oil Imports Ruled Illegal
Last week, Reuters reported that the World Trade organization had decided in favour of the European Union in a two year old trade dispute with Mexico. In 2004, the government of that country had placed customs duties on imports of olive oil from Europe on the grounds that the product was unfairly subsidized. The WTO tribunal has judged that Mexico was not entitled to do this, according to current treaties.
